Ethics of Workplace

An individual should be a filling of middle ground. On the one side there is the law, which is connected with punishment and crime. On the other hand there is religion, which is connected with sin and virtue. Organizational ethics comes in between — it go away beyond the law, and connects to the attitude of employees. It mainly focuses in the association, corporation or government department. These groups of people should work together to attain common goals, while also determined to do right thing in complex, diverse world.

There are many individual who helps the organization for developing codes of various kinds. Ethics codes usually deal with guiding principles and corporate values. The code of Conduct usually deals with behavior that is prohibited or favored. However no firm line exists between codes of different kinds. Now the question raising how the code is created and what is the importance of content of the code. The development of code is crucial, whether it sets out prohibitions on the employees or it creates a way between the employees to do the business with

How the code is developed (how much real employee input?), and why the code is developed (just to protect senior management?) is as important as the content of the code itself. The focus of a code is also crucial — whether it points the way for employees to do business with honesty.

Organizational principles include traditional qualities such as honesty, commitment, loyalty, respect between each other, avoiding clashes of interest. The organizational principles also include latest factors like customer focus, continuous improvement, innovation and teamwork etc.

In Western setting, codes have been embedded successfully in many ethics programs crated to see that each and every person in the organization should know the principles and values and how to incorporate them in their work practice. Some of the programs include video for all the individual working in an establishment which features personal promise to upkeep values by the superior of the institution and honest presentation of present issues by a cross-section of employees.
